Here I send you the pictures of my hometown. I want to introduce our special ways (which is quite different from Han people)to celebrate our Spring festival.Like Tibetans, I am not a Han but a Tujia. I am from a remote town Dejiang, in the Southwest of China's Guizhou Province. It is a place where most of the residents are Tujias.
We sometimes share the same living habits and customs with Han people. But still, we have our instinct characteristics. In the Spring Festival(in a longer sense, lasting half a month), especially in the Lantern Festival(the last day of the spring festival), we have special ways to celebrate our festival. People dress up in different ways and parade in the street. The most splendid is the dragon-holding part. Craftsmen make dragons with bamboos and then brave men hold the dragons to show them in the streets. Below are some pictures of the dragons. The most eye-catching is usually the tail-holder, a man who is always dressed up as a woman. The first picture below is a pretty "girl" , who is actually a man. So is the third picture. The most exciting part comes at night. The dragons will be burnt with the fireworks. Residents living beside the streets prepare the fireworks and hang them on the bamboo pole. When the men holding the dragons pass through, the fireworks burning fall on them. It goes on until the dragons are burned well.
